IS GLOW HAIR & MAKE UP ARTISTRY A TEAM OF ARTISTS?
Right now Glow HMUA is just one person, me! I do both hair and make up so can help you with anything “glam” you need. If you have a larger booking and would like me to assist you in recommending or booking an additional artist, I can do this upon request.
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN A HAIR AND MAKE UP ARTIST?
I have been a hairstylist since 2011 and a make up artist since July 2021. I worked as an HMUA part time until April 2022 when I finally had the courage to quit my full time job to pursue my passion.
WHY ARE WEDDING PRICES DIFFERENT TO OTHER SPECIAL OCCASION PRICES?
Weddings require much more from a stylist administratively. We provide brides with access to us and our expertise for many months, as well as creating on-the-day timelines, scheduling trials, loads of email communication and where necessary investing in product/tools specifically for your needs.
CAN I BOOK A TRIAL BEFORE BOOKING YOU FOR MY WEDDING?
Trials are a chance for us both to envision your bridal look, they do not serve as an “interview” for a hair or make up artist. It’s best to have a look through an artists portfolio (social media) so you are familiar with their style and then make your booking. Your date is only reserved for you when a deposit has been paid and contract signed. A trial alone does not secure your wedding date.
HOW CAN I SECURE MY WEDDING DATE WITH YOU?
Firstly, pop me an email or fill out the booking form on my “Weddings” tab and let’s chat! Bookings are only secured once a deposit has been paid.
WHEN DO WE BOOK THE TRIAL?
Trials happen 6 to 8 weeks before your big day! We keep ’em close so that you have all the necessary pieces of the puzzle set, like dress, veil, accessories, etc.
HOW MANY HAIRSTYLES CAN I TRY OUT AT MY TRIAL?
Trials are generally 1.5 hours in length and we can try up to 2 different hair options during that time. If you want to try any more hairstyles you will be charged for an additional trial appointment.
HOW MANY PEOPLE CAN YOU FIT IN ON ONE WEDDING DAY?
This depends on your ceremony start time and the time you want to get going in the morning. It takes on average 1 hour per person for hair or make up which usually means I can accommodate between 6 and 8 services depending on the styling involved.
HOW LONG DOES A HAIR OR MAKE UP APPOINTMENT TAKE?
Hair appointments take 45 minutes – 1 hour. Make up applications take 1 hour – 1 hour 15 minutes.
DO YOU TRAVEL TO ME?
Yes! I am happy for bridal and special occasion hair and make up bookings to come to my studio space at my home, but generally I travel to my clients to make it way less stressful for everyone!
WHAT PRODUCTS DO YOU USE?
Both my kits are full of incredible professional grade products personally tested by myself to ensure they are of the highest quality. My hair and make up kits are made up of brands like Matrix, LÓreal Professional, Mac, Kryolan & Morphe to name a few.
WHAT SET UP DO YOU NEED ON THE DAY?
Ideally a table surface of some kind, a comfy chair for you to sit in, a light and bright space (in front of a window), and an electricity supply. I can make just about any space work!
CAN I COME TO YOU FOR MY PRE WEDDING HAIR COLOUR?
Yes! I am also a hairdresser so anything you need in terms of cutting and colouring, I’m your girl!
